# Brutalism

A web approach that exposes structure through plain typography, hard boundaries, and direct links. Its architectural namesake is an analogy, not a prescription for bad usability.

## Visual family
Modernism & structure. Editorial family: shared visual vocabulary, not a claim of common origin.

## Visual cues
- Visible structure
- Hard edges
- Unembellished controls

## Build it
1. Use explicit link text.
2. Separate sections with rules.
3. Make every action respond immediately.

## Example
A project archive with oversized titles, underlined links, and no entrance sequence.

## Typography
System sans-serif or monospace works well. Large size and explicit links matter more than a novelty font.

## Practical consequences
- Starting projects: Portfolio, Publication, Internal tool. These are suggestions, not restrictions.
- Reading/layout: compact; bold visual emphasis.
- Asset work: Type, rules, and content can carry the page without images.
- Complexity: low. Mostly standard CSS; imagery may still need preparation.

## Limits
Confusing deliberate roughness with broken navigation, tiny text, or inaccessible contrast.

## Reading the collected reference board
The board combines architectural imagery and forceful print typography. Translate its visible structure into web layout; a concrete building photograph alone does not demonstrate web brutalism.

## Context
Contemporary screen interpretation. The recipe is a modern web adaptation.
No single inventor or exact founding date is asserted for this interpretation.
