An image-making approach where the placement of individual pixels is visible and deliberate. Pixel illustration does not require pixel-sized interface controls.

## Visual family
Digital nostalgia. Editorial family: shared visual vocabulary, not a claim of common origin.

## Visual cues
- Visible pixel grid
- Restricted palette
- Stepped silhouettes

## Build it
1. Draw icons on a consistent source grid.
2. Scale artwork by whole-number multiples.
3. Pair display lettering with normal body text.

## Example
A game library with pixel cover art and readable save-file details.

## Typography
A bitmap display face can work for a short title; use a normal-width monospace or sans-serif for descriptions.

## Practical consequences
- Starting projects: Portfolio, Store. These are suggestions, not restrictions.
- Reading/layout: compact; bold visual emphasis.
- Asset work: A small original sprite set gives this direction its identity.
- Complexity: medium. Allow time for a coherent decorative or image layer and responsive checks.

## Limits
Blurry scaling, tiny bitmap paragraphs, or controls whose hit areas are only as large as their sprites.

## Reading the collected reference board
Compare the deliberately stepped silhouettes and limited colors. Some tiles are broader retro illustration references, so inspect the pixel construction rather than assuming every tile uses the same technique.

## Context
Contemporary screen interpretation. The recipe is a modern web adaptation.
No single inventor or exact founding date is asserted for this interpretation.
