A speculative genre combining historical industrial imagery with imagined technology. Gears and brass establish fiction; they should not obscure how a real interface works.

## Visual family
Digital nostalgia. Editorial family: shared visual vocabulary, not a claim of common origin.

## Visual cues
- Industrial fantasy
- Mechanical detail
- Antique material cues

## Build it
1. Give decorative mechanisms a plausible visual role.
2. Use a simple control layout.
3. Separate fictional gauges from real data.

## Example
A fictional invention catalog with mechanical illustrations and readable specifications.

## Typography
Slab-serif display lettering can reference industrial print. Monospace is useful for actual specifications, not ornamental pseudo-data.

## Practical consequences
- Starting projects: Portfolio, Publication. These are suggestions, not restrictions.
- Reading/layout: compact; bold visual emphasis.
- Asset work: Coherent fictional machinery takes more work than decorative gears.
- Complexity: high. Custom artwork or lettering is central to the full expression.

## Limits
Random gears on every surface or unlabeled dials that imply nonexistent measurements.

## Reading the collected reference board
Look for invented machinery, antique print, and industrial fantasy. The examples are speculative genre graphics, not documentation of functioning historical devices.

## Context
Contemporary screen interpretation. The recipe is a modern web adaptation.
No single inventor or exact founding date is asserted for this interpretation.
