2022 — Turning provisioning around

186 words

In this year

Work #

I moved into provisioning after starting in frontline support. The work was highly manual: preparing machines, tracking inventory, managing handoffs, and checking that equipment was ready for the people receiving it.

Recover the backlog #

I cleared an inherited 72-ticket COVID-era backlog within six months. Alongside the queue, I rebuilt SOPs, service-level expectations, inventory tracking, knowledge, and media-sanitization controls.

Learn the whole process #

Doing the work manually exposed the failure points: missing information, configuration problems, inventory movement, and technician handoffs. That operating experience became the basis for the process changes that followed.

The iPhone 14 Pro became another upgrade I regretted. I loved the Dynamic Island and the display. The smaller footprint felt good, too.

But my phone got hot and bugged out all the time. I don’t know how much was the hardware, that year’s iOS, or the new interface. I just know the experience wore on me. It’s what sent me looking at a Galaxy Fold in 2023.
